CANYON//SRAM Racing wrapped up the 2017 Giro Rosa yesterday on the final stage 10 in Torre del Greco, Naples. The stage was won by Megan Guarnier (DLT) after a breakaway formed on the Mt Vesuvius climb just 10km before the finish. Anna van der Breggen (DLT) won the Maglia Rosa for the 2017 Giro Rosa.

The circuit style final stage was hectic from the start and Alexis Ryan was present in the two longest breakaways of the stage. “It was a really hard stage. I didn’t feel great at the start but our aim was to be in a breakaway and so we had all been in something at the start.”

“I just had come back from a breakaway, Hannah covered a move and then I saw another one going and I was in the best position for us so I went with it. And then it stuck for the rest of the stage until the base of climb.”

As Ryan’s move was caught the general classification contenders made a move on the steep final section of the Mt Vesuvius climb. The six riders stayed away to the finish and Elena Cecchini in 20th was the best placed rider for CANYON//SRAM Racing.

“Overall I’m happy with my Giro Rosa, as a team we raced well, Hannah won a stage and I’m pleased I had two top six results myself,” added Ryan.

The team will now race the five day stage race Thüringen Rundfahrt starting Wednesday 12 July.
