CANYON//SRAM Racing announce 18-year-old Hannah Ludwig will join its roster for the 2019 season. The news comes during the Junior Women’s Road Race this morning at the UCI Road World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria where Ludwig is competing.
At just 18 years old the young German rider already shows an abundance of potential. Ludwig, who finished 10th in the world championship individual time trial (ITT) three days ago, won the junior road title at the German championships, and finished second in the ITT the recent Juniors and U23 Road European Championships.
Team Manager Ronny Lauke said he’s more than pleased to bring the young rider into CANYON//SRAM Racing’s outfit next season.
“After she applied in June to become part of our team, I’ve met her face to face. Although Hannah’s very young she has a clear idea about who she wants to become as an athlete in the future. This impressed me. Furthermore her power values are very promising. Hannah’s personality and obvious talent convinced me that our team can help her develop further,” said Lauke.
Ludwig said she was beyond excited to join the team.
“I am very happy to join CANYON//SRAM Racing because it’s special for me to go straight from racing juniors into a world class team like this! I’m looking forward to get to know all of the riders and staff and learn from those people who have been my role models since I started cycling. It’s amazing to join them in a team,” said an excited Ludwig.
“My goals for 2019 are to get used to the longer length of women’s elite races, and to help the team the best that I can” added Ludwig.
