Kasia brings the team to another WWT podium

We continued a successful tour with another exciting stage finish at Vuelta a Burgos. Kasia Niewiadoma sprinted from a select group of climbers to finish second on the stage in Ojo Guareña.

“I’m happy and proud to see my teammates racing so well from the beginning of this Spanish campaign. Everyone is committed to be a part of the race and to fight for the best possible result,” said Kasia.

“When Elise attacked with six kilometres to go I thought it was a little bit too early because we had a headwind at that point, but her effort was great and she showed she was not afraid.”

Kasia continued, “I’m not sure how pleased I am with getting second. The team rode so well from the start line and the entire race I really believed that we could get the stage win. At the same time, it’s nice we can still continue to be on the podium. The team is racing so well together and everything is coming easy. The atmosphere is so good.”

A slightly disappointed Elise added after the finish, “I tried with my attack. I lost everything there but if you don’t try you don’t know. It’s great Kasia got second and its obvious she is in good shape. Tomorrow is the last stage is going to be super hard for everyone so we’ll see what we can do. Three podiums in three days is quite an achievement so we can be proud so far of our tour.”

While Elise loses the GC lead, Kasia moves into third place before tomorrow’s final stage, just two seconds behind leader Niamh Fisher-Black.

The queen stage starts at 11:51CEST and can be followed on Twitter with #BurgosFem and #UCIWWT. The 121km final stage from Quintanar de la Sierra to Lagunas de Neila will be broadcast from 15:00CEST on Teledeporte, Castilla y León Televisión, TV3, Eurosport, FloSports, GCN, NOS and Zello App.
