AN EXCITING WEEK IN THE ARDENNES

The final of the spring classics culminates in an exciting week in the Ardennes region between the Netherlands and Belgium. On Sunday, 16 April, CANYON//SRAM Racing tackles the first of the Ardennes classics, the Amstel Gold Race, with a roster of Ricarda Bauernfeind, Elise Chabbey, Tiffany Cromwell, Kasia Niewiadoma, Soraya Paladin and Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka.

This year’s Amstel Gold Race has been extended in length by 30 kilometres, meaning the peloton tackles the infamous Cauberg climb on no less than five occasions, one more than in 2022.

Kasia won the race in 2019 and said she is looking forward to the upcoming trio of Ardennes classics: Amstel Gold Ladies Race, Fléche Wallonne Femmes on Wednesday, 19 April and Liége-Bastogne-Liége Femmes on Sunday, 23 April.

“I’m feeling good with my preparation and am optimistic going into the Ardennes races. With each passing week this season, I’m becoming stronger, especially in the last part of training and races. I enjoy these races, especially Amstel Gold, and look forward to them.”

Referring to the added depth that CANYON//SRAM Racing has this season, Kasia says, “Our team overall is stronger, which gives us more cards to play, especially in these punchy types of races. The week is always interesting to see how each of the three races plays out. Our main aim is to commit to achieving a victory, and we believe it’s very realistic.”

Kasia adds, “I feel strong and confident. I learned what I needed to learn this season so that I could be in a position to fight for victory. My personal goal is to be on the podium for each race of the Ardennes. And, if it’s not me, my goal is that one of my teammates is on the podium. Honestly, we want the top step.”
