CANYON//SRAM Racing’s Elena Cecchini secured the win today in the Sprint Classification after the completion of the Boels Ladies Tour in Roosendaal, Netherlands. Cecchini finished twelfth in the individual time trial final stage, but was able to take home the sprint jersey after her work throughout the tour.
“As a team, our tour was a roller coaster this week, with some good days and some not so shiny days. We will use it to get better and improve.”
“For me personally I am happy with my form. Especially because every year the field here is super strong and everyone is on top form with the world championships so close,” said Cecchini after the final stage.
“The sprint jersey was a good goal, and the result of some nice team work. It was satisfying to stand on the podium for it. Now, I’m looking forward to a couple of rest days and then it’s all out for the last three weeks of the season,” commented Cecchini.
Cecchini’s teammate, Lisa Klein, was CANYON//SRAM Racing’s best placed rider today, finishing sixth, just over one minute behind stage and overall tour winner Annemiek Van Vleuten (MTS).
“It was nice to finish the tour like that, I am not disappointed in the result,” said Klein.
