Today’s queen stage in the Giro d’Italia Donne was a tough climb up to Monte Matajur. The stage was won by Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (SDW). Elise Chabbey was CANYON//SRAM Racing’s best placed rider crossing the line exhausted in eighteenth. Elise was paced and encouraged by teammate Alena Amialiusik up the final climb.

“Elise was really suffering and asking me to go ahead and leave her. I told her I would not and she needs to just stay on my wheel, not drop and stop talking!” smiled Alena after the stage.

Elise drops down to eleventh on GC, just 13 seconds from the goal of a top ten place. One stage remains tomorrow, with a 113 kilometre circuit around Cormons, Italy.
