Lisa regains yellow after 3rd in the ITT

A third place on today’s individual time trial stage four at the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour has allowed Lisa Brennauer to regain the yellow leader’s jersey. Lauren Stephens (TCO) won the 18.7km ITT, just one second ahead of Ellen van Dijk (Netherlands national team) and six seconds ahead of Brennauer.

Brennauer’s time was more than 40 seconds faster than yesterday’s stage winner Hayley Simmonds (WNT) and allowed her to overtake the British rider in the battle for the yellow jersey.

“I’m happy with the ITT. It’s a pretty tricky course that I know well from the past. It can be quite hard to find a good rhythm with all of the undulations. I found a good start into the race and I felt fast.”

Brennauer now has an 18 second lead on van Dijk and 26 seconds lead on Simmonds in the general classification ahead of the penultimate stage five tomorrow. The 108km stage around Greiz starts at 14:00 CEST and can be followed on Twitter with #LTLT17.
