After a successful start to the season CANYON//SRAM Racing now turn its attention to the third round of the Women’s WorldTour at Trofeo Alfredo Binda in Cittglio, Italy. The team will line up on Sunday 18 March with a roster of Alena Amialiusik, Hannah Barnes, Elena Cecchini, Tiffany Cromwell, Kasia Niewiadoma and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.
The course for the 131km race remains unchanged from last year with the peloton facing a large lap followed by four finish circuits that pass through Cittiglio and up the race-making Orino climb. The long-standing race has been won by sprinters and climbers alike making the race unpredictable and highly anticipated.
“It’s a race that has a bit of everything. It has the long climb in the beginning and then the finish circuit with two climbs. The race-winning move happens almost every year on the Orino climb,” said Cecchini.
“It’s one of my favourite races. It’s different from the other classics that we have at this time of year. I also really like it because it’s an Italian race and I know that I will have a lot of my family and friends on the side of the road cheering for me,” added Cecchini.
“We are going there with a really strong team and we can play a lot of different roles and make the race hard. We want to bring a small group to the finish line and then do our best and win it,” remarked Niewiadoma.
The race starts at 12:00 CET and can be watched live on TV RaiSport from 14:45 CET with live streams also on OASport, PMG Sport, Eurosport Player and Bike Channel amongst others. It also can followed on Twitter with #TrBinda and #UCIWWT.
