NEVE, ALICE AND SORAYA RETURN TO RACING AT VUELTA A BURGOS

CANYON//SRAM Racing continues its Spanish stage race block with the ninth edition of the Vuelta a Burgos. The team welcomes Neve Bradbury back to racing, who withdrew from La Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour before the first stage due to illness. Soraya Paladin and Alice Towers return to racing after a short break following the one-day spring classics. Alongside Neve Bradbury, Soraya Paladin, and Alice Towers will be Elise Chabbey, Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka and Maike van der Duin.

The four-day stage race starts on Thursday, 16 May, with a 123km course that, pending the impact of any crosswinds, is anticipated to be the first of two bunch sprints for the tour. The third stage in Melgar de Fernamental is the second. The punchers and climbers get their best opportunity in the second and final stages. A short summit finish up the Alto de Rosales climb in Medina de Pomar on stage two and a Cat-1 climb, Alto de Rozavientos, with pitches of 11% on the final day, will mean the general classification has the potential to come down to the wire.

CANYON//SRAM Racing brings a mix of sprint strength and climbing talent and will be ambitious in its goals for stage wins and overall classifications.

RIDER QUOTES

Soraya Paladin: “I took some days off after Liége-Bastogne-Liége and then started to build my shape again. I enjoyed a good block of training. I might miss the race speed in the first stage, but I’m happy to be here and motivated. I like Vuelta Burgos and look forward to starting the second part of the season here.”
