La Course by TDF and BeNe Ladies Tour

CANYON//SRAM Racing return to the Women’s WorldTour with La Course by Le Tour de France on Friday 19 July in Pau, France. The team will field five riders who raced the recent Giro Rosa Iccrea stage race: Alena Amialiusik, Hannah Barnes, Tiffany Cromwell, Kasia Niewiadoma and Alexis Ryan. New British road champion, Alice Barnes will make up the six-rider roster for the 121km one-day race.

“La Course is a great race for women to perform at a really high level with a lot of media attention and global exposure around the race,” said Alice Barnes.

“In the past the it has been raced very aggressively, and this gives a good representation to cycling fans of our usual style of racing.”

“The course looks tough and quite open. We will have a lot of options with our team, but we also will have to see how the other girls have come out of the Giro,” added Alice Barnes.

Her teammate Tiffany Cromwell said the form of many of the riders doing the Giro Rosa-La Course double, will be a bit of an unknown.

“It’s hard to gauge how the body will cope with La Course after the Giro Rosa. It will go one of two ways––absolutely flying, or absolutely creeping! It will be quite individual and I believe we will see a mix of performances from some riders in the peloton who have raced both.“

“For me personally, I feel like I’ve been really good with my recovery post Giro Rosa so far. I’ve allowed myself to recover and I’ve taken it quite easy, but still have been rolling the legs every day,” said the Australian rider.

“It will be important  to have a good pre-race day training session, in order to wake the body up again, and get it out of ‘recovery mode.’ I’m looking forward it. We have a strong team, I’m feeling good and ready to race again, and have some fun!” added Cromwell.

The five-lap hilly circuit La Course by Le Tour de France race starts at 09:20CEST, and will be broadcast live across the globe, on channels such as Eurosport 1 and ITV4. The race can also be followed on Twitter with #UCIWWT and #LaCourse.

CANYON//SRAM Racing will also be racing at the BeNe Ladies Tour, starting Thursday 18 July. The team’s roster will be Tanja Erath, Ella Harris, Rotem Gafinovitz, Lisa Klein, Hannah Ludwig and Christa Riffel. The four-day stage race starts with an evening prologue in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and later moves to Belgium for the final stage in Zelzate on Sunday 21 July. The race can be followed on Twitter with #BNLT19.
