Pauline seventh at Liége-Bastogne-Liége

The final race of the week of Ardennes Classics, the second edition of the women’s Liége-Bastogne-Liége in Belgium was won by Anna van der Breggen (DLT) with Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in seventh place.

An aggressive race from CANYON//SRAM Racing saw Ferrand-Prévot in a solo breakaway after the Frenchwoman was set up by teammate Alena Amialiusik on the Côte de la Redoute. Ferrand-Prévot built a lead of close to one minute before being caught by a select group.

“Our DS wanted us to race aggressively and we did that. After I was caught we had three riders and we tried again to make some attacks. In the end we weren’t able to make the very front,” said Ferrand-Prévot after the finish.

“I think we can’t be too disappointed with our Ardennes week. We’ve tried our best and been close with Alexis in Amstel especially. We are a strong group and we will keep our strength together for the next races.”
